Scarecrows

Scarecrows
Scarecrows

You don't see too many scarecrows these days. They are use by farmers and gardeners to discourage birds such as crows and sparrows from disturbing and feeding on freshly cast seeds or growing crops. The above scarecrow couple were photographed in a small garden at Quarry Bank Mill that is open to the public. I very nearly missed seeing them but took the long route back to the car park rather than retracing my steps.
