Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi

by Ed O'Keeffe in Rome, Italy

Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi
Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi

In English this is the Fountain of the Four Rivers, one of Rome's most iconic fountains located in the square of the Piazza Navona. It was unveiled to the public in 1651, over 400 years ago. The above photograph is a detail showing the river-god Ganges. As you can see there are many different angles and details that I could have focused my camera on. Because of the time of day and overcast lighting conditions I didn't get the photographs I had wanted. Ideally I would have gone back one evening or early in the morning, but there were (dare I say it) more important locations for me to capture. Next time I am in Italy's amazing capital this square and its famous fountains will be on the top of my shoot list.
