Haslingden Halo at Night

This sculpture is part of the 'Panopticons' art project. It is an 18 metre wide steel structure five metres off the ground. Sat on the top of an old landfill site it overlooks the town of Haslingden in Rossendale and is particularly difficult to find in the dark. I had been up a couple of weeks early to scout out the location in the day and still got lost (although it was 6 in the morning on a Saturday). My main concern was that it might not be lit all night, however it is as it uses low-energy LED lights powered by a nearby wind turbine. It was design by John Kennedy of LandLab and launched in September 2007.
