Castlerig Stone Circle at Dusk

by Ed O'Keeffe in England, Lake District

Castlerig Stone Circle at Dusk

Over the years I have been taking photographs, the landscapes captured around sunrise or sunset have often been the most memorable in terms of the quality of light and how that affects my surroundings. However, we often are so smitten with the beautiful colours as we watch the sky change from blue through the yellows and reds that we rarely turn around.  I was distracted by the recession and orange glow over the Lake District that you can see in the image below.

On turning around and looking back towards Castlerig stone circle, I was able to use this warm light to capture the above image. It just shows that the sunrise or set will often make for an interest picture in itself, but that warm light can really change the landscape around you as it falls.
